- When are Young Eagles events held?
We hold Young Eagles flights once each month, on the dates listed on
the main Young Eagles page.
The flights begin at 9 am, if the weather permits and end when everyone
has flown, unless weather requires that we end sooner. No "Walk-ins"
after 11 am, please. We do not
schedule "rain dates". If the weather looks questionable, call the
airport at (215) 538-3055.
2.
Where do the flights take place?
Quakertown Airport, located between Quakertown and Milford
Square, PA. The main building is located at the south end of the
airport driveway and has attached parking. Click here for map.
3. What is the age range for Young
Eagles?
Young Eagles should be at least 8 years old and have not reached 18
years. We try our best to take along a younger or older sibling, if
requested, when possible.
4. How
long do the flights last?
The flights normally last for 15 - 20 minutes, with a pre-flight
walkaround of the airplane of five minutes or so. Waiting time depends
on the number of visitors and aircraft available.
5. Do
we need to make a reservation?
Reservations or notification is not required, unless you are planning
to arrive as a group of five
or more Young Eagles. These groups should contact our Young
Eagles Coordinator. He can usually schedule a time, which may cut down
on your wait. He can be reached by email at this address. YoungEagles@quakertownpilots.org
A registration form signed by a parent or guardian is required for each
flight. Forms will be available on the event day. Young Eagles
attending as part of a group are reminded to have these forms when they
arrive, contact our coordinator so forms can be sent to you in advance.
6. Our
church youth group would like to attend, is this OK?
Yes. We are glad to have groups attend, and this event has
become a favorite for some church, scout and "Y" groups. Please make
sure you bring adequate adult supervision. Contact the Young Eagles
Coordinator for details. YoungEagles@quakertownpilots.org

7. How should Young Eagles dress for their
flight?
Dress appropriately for the season. Airplanes tend to be hot in the
summer and cold in the winter until they are airborne. Don't expect to
find shade and airports are open areas with wind and prop blasts. No shoes with skate wheels, "wheelies". There
is a waiting area inside, although we find everyone tends to congregate
near the fence!
8. Can we return?
We only provide a single ride per event, but are very glad to have
returning Young Eagles. We have had several who have been with us 8-10
times!
9. What else might we expect?
Expect to have fun! And, be educated! Bring your camera! This is
a family event. Our pilots have as much fun as the kids!
